Position Summary

The Town of White City Public Works Summer Maintenance Assistant reports to the Town Foreman and ensures efficient operation and maintenance of all Town assets, including, but not limited to streets and roads, utilities, park areas, equipment, sewer and water infrastructure, and all Public Works programs.


The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting the Town Foreman with the efficient operation and maintenance of the Towns infrastructure as indicated below:

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Road maintenance including pothole repairs and crack sealing
  • Comfortable operating a Zero turn riding lawnmower
  • Park maintenance including grass, flower beds, trees, shrub bed and playstructures
  • Equipment operation and maintenance may include mowers and small tools
  • Update equipment maintenance log
  • Must be in excellent physical shape
  • Willing to work in all weather conditions
  • Assist with Parks and Recreation projects (benches, collect bins etc.)
  • Maintain garbage and recycle bins throughout the community
  • Street sign replacements and maintenance
  • School zone, street, and cross walk line painting
  • Occasionally: janitorial duties, cleaning public areas, washrooms and change rooms
  • Other project and duties as assigned by the Town Foreman

Education and Experience:

  • A valid class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s license
  • Experience operating power equipment and small equipment is required.
  • Powered Mobile Equipment (PME) training an asset.
  • Other training certifications an asset.
  • General mechanical knowledge is an asset.
  • Basic computer knowledge is required.

Working Conditions:

  • Four positions available:
    • (2) May 5 to August 29, 2025
    • (2) June 30 to August 29, 2025
  • Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.
  • Heavy lifting involved for various duties (up to 50lbs)
  • Outdoor work in various conditions.
  • Occasional overtime hours will be required. 
  • Occasional weekend and evening hours will be required dependent on program and event schedules.

 Salary:

  • $16-$20.00/hour based on experience.  
  • Vacation earned: 3/52 times earning paid on every cheque.
  • Payment through electronic deposit every 2 weeks.
  • Overtime: 1.5 times wage when worked.
