Position Summary |
The Temporary Operations Technician reports to the Town Foreman and assists Public Works with their seasonal workload and ongoing Town projects. The position supports the efficient operation and maintenance of all Town assets, including, but not limited to streets and roads, utilities, park areas, equipment, sewer and water infrastructure, and all Public Works programs. |
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend to fall Clean Up Bins and support Branch Chipping and Leaf Bag Pick Up programs.
- Maintain overland drainage and culverts throughout the community.
- Maintain town irrigation systems, including Bower West 2 & 3 detention pond pumps, fall blow outs, damage to residents’ systems along roadways.
- Minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs.
- Equipment operation and maintenance may include mowers and small tools.
- Update equipment maintenance log.
- Park maintenance including grass, flower beds, trees, shrub bed and play structures.
- Assist with Parks and Recreation projects (benches, collect bins etc.).
- Maintain garbage and recycle bins throughout the community.
- Street sign replacements and maintenance.
- School zone, street, and cross walk line painting.
- Occasionally: janitorial duties, cleaning public areas, washrooms and change rooms.
- Other project and duties as assigned by the Town Foreman.
Education and Experience:
- A valid class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s license.
- Experience operating power equipment and small equipment is required.
- Powered Mobile Equipment (PME) training an asset.
- Other training certifications an asset.
- General mechanical knowledge is an asset.
- Basic computer knowledge is required.
Working Conditions:
- Employment period: four to six weeks during Fall 2026, depending on workload.
- Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.
- Heavy lifting involved for various duties (up to 50lbs).
- Outdoor work in various conditions.
- Occasional overtime hours will be required.
- Occasional weekend and evening hours will be required dependent on program and event schedules.
Salary:
- $15.96-$23.94/hour based on experience.
- Vacation earned: 3/52 times earning paid on every cheque.
- Payment through electronic deposit every 2 weeks.
- Overtime: 1.5 times wage when worked.
