Deputy Mayor Howard Slack
In 1975 my wife Mavis and I purchased a lot in White City. We began building our home in November that year and moved to White City in April 1976. We have three children, Julie (Terry), Douglas and David as well as two wonderful little granddaughters, Autumn and Hannah.
Mavis and I started our own accounting and income tax business 28 years ago here, in White City.
I am a board member of the heavy horse committee with the Canadian Western Agribition Association and have assisted at Agribition over the last 20 years.
I have always been interested in our community and I have been involved in many aspects of the town over the years. I was instrumental in establishing our fire department and was chief from 1981 thru to 1992 and remained on the fire department for some time after that. I enjoyed participating in the Optimist Club, local school board, rec board and community groups. I was also involved in sports as a player and a coach.
I have been a member of Council for the last seven years and enjoy the many challenges it presents. The central sewer system, new town office, new fire hall and pumper truck, as well as the rapidly expanding subdivision and future growth of White City are all exciting areas of growth for our community.
